Mark Cavendish has looked rejuvenated of late on the velodrome but has suffered something of a set-back with a crash at the Gent Six Day this evening.
The Manxman is riding the event with former QuickStep team mate Iljo Keisse and crashed in the one-lap team time trial; a Madison against the watch of sorts.
Cavendish had just taken a hand sling from Keisse and was
coming out of the corner when he seemed to slide out.
He then slid down the tight track for some distance as he
was going at high speed at the time.
While he got back to his feet quickly he looked annoyed when speaking to those who had gone to his aid.
However, he quickly gave a wave to the crowd to assure
them he was OK, though the fall was a heavy one and his kit was ripped.
Cavendish, who rode very strongly at the London Six Day
recently, had earlier this evening won the points race with Keisse.
After his crash he was unable to ride the opening Madison of the event as he had gone for medical treatment.
