Marco Haller confront this spectator at the Giro after the man tried to take the cyclist's bottle while he was drinking from it.
Marco Haller was not a happy man at the Giro
yesterday when a spectator tried to take his bidon from him.
The Katusha-Alpecin cyclist was weaving his way
through the crowds taking a swig from his bottle when the fan reached out and
tried to take it.
Haller immediately stopped his bike, went over to
the spectator and angrily confronted him.
Indeed, an official working on the race then stepped
between the rider and fan to ensure it didn’t go any further.
Thankfully after a few choice words were launched in
the direction of the spectator, it was all over.
It was a pretty stupid thing for the fan to do; not
least because the riders will often give away their bottles to fans if they are
asked.
But taking one literally from the mouth of a cyclist
on an exhausting Grand Tour is not the way to go.
It is possible, however, that the fan simply got
carried away in the moment and in the general excitement of the Giro.
