Having departed Team DSM, formerly Team Sunweb, with immediate effect earlier today Marc Hirschi has now been linked with a move to UAE Team Emirates.
If the transfer, which has been
reported in the Dutch media, goes though it would mean Hirschi linking up with
Tour de France champion Tadej Pogačar (22).
Despite Pogačar winning the Tour last year his team has been relatively quiet in the transfer market, with Rafal Majka and Matteo Trentin the only two big name new signings over the winter.
Hirschi (22) rode very well in the Tour de France last year, taking a stage victory and proving unlucky in not winning at least one more stage.

He really came into his own again
after the Tour with bronze in the men’s road race at the Worlds and victory in La
Flèche Wallonne.
The Swiss rider looked like he may have won Liège-Bastogne-Liège but for a significant move in the sprint by Julian Alaphilippe, who was relegated. That gave the win to Primoz Roglic, with Hirschi 2nd on the day.
That ability to race so strongly through the Tour and then recover and get even better after it bodes very well for Hirschi's development in the years ahead.
Earlier today Team DSM released a
statement saying it had agreed to terminate Hirschi’s contract, despite the
fact it had one year to run.
And now wielerflits.nl is reporting that Hirschi has agreed a terms with UAE Team Emirates, where he would really bolster its ability in the classics and also stage races and prove a vital asset for Pogačar during the Tour.
