Gardai have recovered a bike valued at €3,000 after it was stolen from a competitor in the Dublin Ironman triathlon at the weekend.
A suspect for the theft has been arrested and charged. He was released on bail and will be in court to face the charges in coming weeks.
Gardai found the stolen bike during an anti crime Garda checkpoint set up on a street in west Dublin.
When officers manning the checkpoint asked a man to open the boot of his car on the Jamestown Road in Finglas on Monday night they found the Cube tri bike in the rear of the car.
Gardai said on Twitter the bike was valued at €3,000. It has been reunited with the owner, who had reported it stolen.
The bike, which was used in the Dublin Ironman on Sunday, was stolen later in the day on Navan Road, Dublin 15.
The man arrested in connection with the bike being found in the car in Finglas was arrested on the spot and taken for interview to Finglas Garda station.
He was charged in connection with the theft and will appear in front of a judge at Blanchardstown District Court later this month.
