Major set-back for Fiona Mangan after broken bones in nasty crash

Fiona Mangan is not having it her own way so far this season and now faces a recovery following a couple of broken bones after her crash

Fiona Mangan had a dream season last year when she won the road race and TT titles at the National Road Championships before securing a ProConti contract. But her 2025 has gotten off to an unfortunate start.

The Limerick woman was a non-starter today in Fenix Omloop van het Hageland (1.1) after crashing yesterday in the closing stages of Omloop Nieuwsblad (1.WWT); her saddle snapping off in the unusual incident.

However, for Mangan the consequences are more serious than damage to her bike as she is now nursing several broken bones and will face a lay-off from training and racing.
