Looks like end of the line for Irish Cycling Show expo event

It looks like the Irish Cycling Show in the RDS was the last edition of the Mara Media-run event.

A popular addition to the domestic cycling scene in recent years, the Irish Cycling Show will not take place in 2016.

The organisers have suggested the show will perhaps never return, saying they have “decided to cancel the show for the foreseeable future”.

Donegal-based Mara Media, which created and ran the show for the last four years said it was grateful for all the support it had received.

“(We) would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the show will not be taking place next year in 2016,” it said in a statement.

“After the fourth show, earlier this year, Mara Media have decided to cancel the Irish Cycling Show for the foreseeable future.

“We would like to thank all our exhibitors and visitors for their business and support over the past four years and wish you all the best for the future.”

The show first took place in the RDS, Dublin, in 2012, before moving to the City West complex on the outskirts of Dublin for its second edition in 2013.

In 2014 when the Giro d'Italia visited Dublin, the show changed format.

It was held outdoors for the first time, opening its doors to visitors free of charge in Merrion Square right next to the finish line of the Giro’s concluding Irish stage.

In April of this year it went back to its roots, returning to the RDS in April for what now seems like its final edition.

The show brought together local distributors and international brands, all exhibiting their cycling kit and related products.

There were also special guest appearances from major names in British and Irish cycling, with coaching and advice seminars and other activities taking place as part of the show each year.
