Legendary trails rider Martyn Ashton, who recently put a Team Sky road racing bike through an amazing off road and trails routine, is set to appear at the upcoming Irish Cycling Show.
The former motorbike trials rider turned MTB legend these days runs Team Ashton Diamondback and has gotten over six million hits on a five-minute video (above) he put together last month.
In it he takes a £10,000 Pinarello Dogma 2 and pulls off some amazing tricks from the world of BMX, motorbike trial riding and mountain biking and trial riding.
The bike may have been a light-weight carbon road model used by Team Sky in the pro peloton but Ashton used all of his skill to pull off tricks you wouldn’t think possible on a road bike.
We ran the video on stickybottle a while back and unsurprisingly it’s been one of our most popular posts ever. The good news for all those of you who enjoyed it so much is that Ashton is a appearing at the Irish Cycling Show in Citywest, Dublin, in March as part of the Animal Bike Tour international tricks team.
The show in the City West exhibition centre just off the M50 is moving forward to an early March date of 9th and 10th. Tickets are available from €4, with a family pass for two adults and two children coming in at a very reasonable €15. You can get them by clicking here.
Organiser Hugh Bonner of Mara Media tells us that floor space for exhibitors is filling up fast and that he’s delighted with the line up thus far. We’ll bring you more on that in the next few weeks but in the meantime check out this Animal Bike Tour video, no Freds here……
