Young Irish amateur rider George Peden got his 2020 season started again last night with a very strong rider at the Donegal Bay CC 10 mile TT last night.

The 20-year-old is normally based in the
UK where he is going to university but has been back in Ireland of late due to
the Covid19 lock-down and blasted back into action last night in an impressive time
of 19:12.

That was a new course record for the
event, from Barnsmore Gap, and saw Peden claim victory on the night by Darragh
McCarter, the former Donegal Bay CC man now riding for the new Spellman Dublin
Port team.

McCarter trailed Peden by 1min 48 seconds with Christopher Birney of SportActive rounding out the podium on the night just eight further seconds adrift.

Peden, who is from Ballymoney in Co Antrim, has been studying English literature at the University of Leeds in recent years and under normal circumstances would be riding in Britain for Harrogate-based team Prologue RT.
