Lara Gillespie, the Irish national road race champion, is set to have a busy schedule of road races to year end, some of which she will ride with her team's World Tour squad. She will remain as an UAE Development Team rider, but will also line-up with the World Tour team at times.
She has already guested for the UAE ADQ World Tour team in recent months; helping team mate Chiara Consonni to victory in Trofee Maarten Wynants (1.1) in Belgium in May.
Gillespie signed for the UAE Development Team this year the fact she will ride some races with the World Tour team is not unexpected given Gillespie's international record, especially on the track, and her results on the road so far this season.
She has finished every UCI-ranked road race she has started this season and kicked off her 2023 road campaign with 2nd in Poreč Trophy (1.2) in Croatia in March.
Gillespie was also 2nd in GP Eco-Struct/Thompson/Security Tools (1.1) in Belgium in May and was 6th in ZLM Omloop der Kempen Ladies (1.2) in the Netherlands later that month.
More recently, she won two titles at the U23 European Track Championships in Portugal. The Wicklow rider also finished the elie-U23 road race at the World Road Championships in Scotland in a group sprinting for 5th in the U23 race, taking 14th in that category.
We'll have more from Gillespie later today.
