Lamborghini driver clocked by Garda doing over 200km per hour

Gardaí have caught the driver of a Lamborghini luxury sports car traveling at 217km per hour, well over 100km per hour above the speed limit on the stretch of road where they were detected.

Gardaí released the details of the incident - with an image of the car on the speed gun, showing 217km per hour.
"Our Roads Policing Unit in Mayo detected this vehicle travelling on the N17 yesterday at more than 100kph over than the speed limit," he said of the offence recorded on Sunday. "This driver was arrested and charged by Gardaí for dangerous driving."

The offence of dangerous driving is punishable by a fine of up to €5,000 and up to six months imprisonment, or both a fine and imprisonment.

The incident came just 24 hours after another driver in a luxury sports vehicle, also believed to be a Lamborghini was arrested on suspicion of drink driving in Limerick and is now facing a six-month driving ban.
