Junior Tour of Ireland TV show attracts huge viewer numbers

The Scott Junior Tour of Ireland 2015 attracted a huge audience across TG4, Setanta Ireland and Irish TV, with an extra 2,800 views alone on YouTube so far.

 

The TV viewing numbers for this year’s Scott Bicycles Junior Tour of Ireland have been revealed and having come close to folding last year, the race attracted a reach of almost 250,000 viewers.

The highlights show, which can be viewed by following this link, attracted 230,800 TV viewers in total on TG4, Setanta Ireland and Irish TV.

There have been an extra 2,800 views alone on YouTube to date.

The figure doesn’t take into account the numbers who were able to view the programme for the first time on the TG4 Player or indeed future YouTube views.

Of the total audience numbers, 147,000 watched the race on TG4.

According to well-known commentator and highlights show presenter Will Downing, the 2015 audience is up 12,000 on the TG4 figures from 2014.

“We are delighted that the viewing figures for the Junior Tour of Ireland rose again in 2015," he said.

"The public are happy to support both this event and Irish sports coverage in general.

“Figures were strong across the board for TG4, Irish TV and Setanta Ireland, taking in terrestrial, FTA satellite and subscription TV, with a viewership far in excess of what we would normally be happy with.

“We’ve always known there was a significant audience out there interested in events like these, and hopefully this opens the door for other sports too.

“It should definitely keep the door open for cycling, and for the Junior Tour, which we have loved working on for the past three years,” he added.
