Former pro road racer turned endurance rider, Joe Barr's latest challenge is underway tonight; the 61-year-old on the road in Donegal at the time of writing with eight hours already under his belt.
Barr is taking on the full length of the Wild Atlantic Way, non-stop, in a bid to set a new world record for the route; some 2,343km featuring 23,231 metres of climbing.
You can track Barr during his record attempt via his GPS tracker, which is now live and will be keeping us all updated right through his ride. You'll find that right here by following this link.
Or you can get onto Twitter and send a shout out, a 'like' or a re-Tweet at @TeamJoeBarr. You can also catch him and his support team on Facebook at this link and give them some encouragement.
At the time of writing, just after 10:30pm on Tuesday, Barr was still headed north in the direction off Fanad Head, with the Atlantic Ocean to the east. And when he gets to the most northerly point of the Wild Atlantic Way he will then begin his very long trek down the west coast of the country all the way to Kinsale in Co Cork.
It's an absolutely epic challenge and he's being backed by his main sponsor White's Oats. While Barr is aiming to claim a new world record, he is also raising money for a great cause; young Zion Cassidy who is seriously ill with cancer.
Zion is a 2-year-old boy from Belfast who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma - which Barr's son Ross was also diagnosed with as a young boy - just before Christmas and since then his treatment has been very tough.
His parents are trying to raise money for Zion to access advanced cancer trials which will give him the best chance at beating cancer for good and Barr is raising money towards that goal. You can help out with that - and get behind Barr as he seeks to raise the money for Zion - by following this link and even donating something small, it all adds up.
