The Irish team pursuit line-up that took an historic medal win at the recent European Track Championships will make up the Irish team at next week's World Track Championships.
Mia Griffin, Kelly Murphy, Alice Sharpe and Emily Kay combined to win bronze in Switzerland at the Euros, thus becoming the first Irish team pursuit line-up to ever win a medal at a major championships.
In the summer, the same four women took gold at the UCI World Cup in St Petersburg, where Murphy and Griffin also took gold and bronze in the individual pursuit.
The quartet also lowered their national record again at the Europeans. Their performance, combined with JB Murphy's bronze in the scratch race, made for a successful first outing for the national team under new interim head track coach Paul Manning.
The team pursuit women are the only Irish riders selected for the Worlds, which begin next Wednesday, October 20th, in Roubaix.
They will obviously ride the team pursuit, where they will aim for another personal best and look to take a medal in that event.
Kay will join Sharpe in the madison event at the Worlds,
with the same duo having placed 13th in the madison at the Europeans.
And after their success in the individual pursuit at the World Cup in Russia this year, Murphy and Griffin will tackle the same event at the Worlds in France.
