Irish cycling team Spellman Dublin Port has entered into a
partnership with the Andy Schleck-CP NVST-Immo Losch Continental-level team.
The agreement will involve female riders from both teams
racing with each other in the year ahead and beyond 2021 if the arrangement works
out.
“The agreement will work both
ways; with ladies from both teams being able to traverse the codes and get a
chance to race,” the Irish team told stickybottle of the team founded by former
top pro rider Andy Schleck.
“We are hoping that this agreement will be a lasting one and that it will attract the very best Irish female riders to Spellman Dublin Port Continental Team, who will then have an opportunity to ride on the Continent with a very well respected road team.”

The Irish team added there were
already arrangements in place for two Schleck riders - Claire Faber from
Luxembourg and Rylee McMullen from New Zealand – to ride with the Spellman
Dublin Port Continental track team at the upcoming Nations Cup, Dublin
International GP and selected international track races.
The aim is to develop the relationship so that Irish
women riding for Spellman Dublin Port – a track and road team - can spend
periods with the Schleck team – based in Luxembourg - on the roads of Europe.
Spellman Dublin Port raced on the road and track in
Ireland last year and claimed national and provincial titles on the track and
road, including the national criterium title and Leinster men’s road title,
both with Andy Maguire, and the men’s team pursuit title on the track.
The team will this year ride at Continental level on the track and its riders, male and female, will also race on the road scene in Ireland.
The Andy Schleck-CP NVST-Immo Losch road team was founded for juniors in 2018 before stepping up to elite level and then taking out a UCI Continental licence for this year.
