Irish sports agency Sport Endorse has secured a deal with WorldTour outfit Team Qhubeka Assos worth some €45 million over the next three years.
The Dublin-based company will be
responsible for securing sponsors and commercial partners for the African
cycling team.
Team Qhubeka Assos was known
as NTT Pro Cycling last year but its title sponsors are now the African not for
profit, Qhubeka, and Swiss clothing brand Assos.
The Qhubeka Foundation is also the charity partner of ASO,
which owns the Tour de France and other major pro races.
Sport Endorse is a sports management company specialising in sports sponsorships, endorsements and commercial partnerships and works with major brands and athletes.

Co-founder of Sport Endorse, Trevor
Twamley, said his company’s role was now to help Team Qhubeka Assos maximise its commercial potential
with partners.
“We are delighted to have the
opportunity to work with Doug (Ryder team Principal and chief executive) and Team
Qhubeka Assos to drive its commercial activity and ensure the team and its
sponsors enjoy continued success,” Twamley said.
“Sport Endorse is a challenger that is
using technology to help our clients do well, so we genuinely identify with the
journey that Doug and Team Qhubeka Assos are on.
“When you look back to when the team got going, they worked incredibly hard to break down barriers and drive success and that is exactly what we are doing in Sport Endorse.”

Declan Bourke, co-founder of Sport
Endorse, said Malcolm Goggin, who has recently joined Sport Endorse as an
advisor, was a key factor in securing the new deal.
Goggin is a former track rider, and Irish
500m record holder. He was captain of the Irish track team Newlyn Murphy & Gunn
for six years and was a member of the Pinarello RT Pro Team for three years.
He is also an entrepreneur, with two start-ups under his belt, and is currently European director of ABEC, a major player in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Bourke said Goggin was the key person it
matching Sport Endorse with Team Qhubeka Assos.
The result is now a deal that seeks to
generate €15 million per year for at least the next three years.
“Malcolm made the introduction, and the
match was clear in our discussions with Doug where transparency was effortless
– an essential requirement for successful sponsorship arrangements,” said
Bourke.
Doug Ryder said the new partnership with
Sport Endorse was a significant step for Team Qhubeka Assos.
“For a little team from Africa with
humble beginnings we’ve come a long way and are now a team that leads the way
in technology, and competes in over 80 races each year including three Grand Tours,”
he said.
“All of this requires resources, so we
are both grateful to and rely on the financial support of our valued sponsors
to enable us to achieve our sporting and charitable goals.
“In turn, we work as hard off the bike
to ensure we deliver above and beyond for our sponsors.
“We are excited to be working with Sport
Endorse to secure sponsorship from brands that believe in our vision, want to join
us on that journey, and deliver the support we need to compete and succeed on
and off the bike.”
