Eddie Dunbar will be hoping to repeat his success of 12 months ago on the Irish junior team at the Visit Nenagh Classic this weekend, though faces stiff opposition from within the national selection and elsewhere.
Cycling Ireland have named two national junior selections for the Visit Nenagh Classic weekend of racing ahead, with both five-rider line-ups set to take in the time trials tomorrow before the road races on Sunday.
Having won the A3-Junior support race 12 months ago, the O’Leary Stone Kanturk man Eddie Dunbar is named in the team, with his palmares having grown hugely since blasting to victory in the classic event last year.
He has taken a whole series of really strong victories, with the Junior Tour of Ireland and his gold-medal winning ride at the national junior time trial championships being his standout performances in the second half of last year after his Nenagh triumph.

Already this year he has been very dominant again, most recently taking the Des Hanlon Memorial support race, not to mention a one-day win in Belgium last month.

His club mate Dylan O’Brien, who has won the Tour of Connacht riding against A1 riders already this season is also named in the team alongside Limerick’s Stephen Shanahan and the Nicolas Roche Performance Team duo of Mark Downey and Michael O’Loughlin.
The five are also named in the Irish team for the Tour of the North over the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend.
One the female junior team for the weekend are Laura Cooke, Josie Knight, Rachel Kaye Mellor, Naoise Sheridan and Nicole Evans. Knight has proven strongest of the quintet, already taking a runner up place in the opening round of the women’s national league at the Boyne GP last month.
