Irish international rider Aaron Wade is set for the French peloton next year having signed for the Division 1 outfit Team U Cube 17.

Wade, who has just turned 20-years-old, has emerged as one of the strongest up and coming young riders on the domestic scene on both track and road.

He was selected this year for the Irish U23 team for the European Road Championships in Trento, Italy, where he rode both the road race and TT.

He also guested with a Swedish team at the Carpathian Couriers Race in Poland in August, where he rode an aggressive race to take 4th on the opening stage while also claiming a classification jersey.

Wade, who has been riding with Powerhouse Sport in Ireland in recent years, will go to France for the full season in 2022. He has been taken on by the French outfit as a sprinter, meaning he should be able to count on support in many races.

The team is based in Pons in the Charente-Maritime department in southwestern France, where Wade will be based for the year.

Team U Cube 17's division 1 status means it will secure places in the best elite races on the French scene. That should aid Wade's development as Cycling Ireland's programme of international selection opportunities opens up again next year.

Former international rider Aaron Buggle rode for the team during his career. Buggle recently spent a stint as Cycling Ireland interim high performance director and during that time he aided Wade in securing a place with the team for next year.

We'll catch up with Wade for a chat soon.
