The National Cyclocross Championships are being held in Co Sligo in three weeks time with entries open now for all categories.
There will be gold, silver and bronze medals – and of
course the coveted jerseys of Irish champion – up for grabs across the youth,
junior, elite and masters categories.
The championships are being hosted by Ballina Cycling
Club at Castlefield, Enniscrone, Co Sligo, on Saturday and Sunday January 11th
and 12th.
Youth championship racing takes place on Saturday with the other events set to be fought out the following day.
The cyclocross championships have in most years been held over one day but with the growth of the scene they now fill two days racing.

Those planning to race must have 2020 licences. Registration closes on Sunday, January 5th, and no other entries are allowed after that date.
There is a combined elite and U23 men’s race and a
separate junior title race for men.
The women’s main event is a combined race for junior, U23 and elites, with a demonstration race for Masters women.
While the Masters women’s title has been down for
decision in recent years, the coming National Championships will be the first
time the event will be a standalone race.
There will also be national titles down for decision in
each of the three male masters categories; M40, M50 and M60.
In the elite men’s elite and U23 title race, a minimum of
12 riders is required to ensure it counts as a championship event. The same
applies to the Masters 40 race.
However, all other races only require six entries to ensure they count as Irish championships events.
