Irish cyclist critical after pothole crash on club spin
An Irish club cyclist has been left in critical condition after a training ride crash with their club.
Stickybottle understands the cyclist was the only faller, though there were several other riders in the group at the time.
The incident took place last weekend in Co Cork. It received some media coverage on news sites at the time.
However, it was not clear at the time that the cyclist was out training with a club at the time.
It appears the injured rider fell as a result of hitting a pothole. The cyclist, a woman in her 40s, was taken to Cork University Hospital.
The incident occurred at Gurteen Cross near Bandon in Co Cork just before 9am last Sunday.
It appears the injured cyclist suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital from the scene by ambulance.
The road between Gurteen Cross and Baxter’s Bridge was closed at the time and was examined as part of the garda’s inquiries into the incident.
