Irish U23 road race and TT champion Michael O’Loughlin was due to get the Irish team’s World Road Championships campaign underway this afternoon.

The Carrick-on-Suir man is lining out today in the U23 TT in Bergen, Norway. While the test gets underway at 12 noon Irish time, O’Loughlin is off much later.

He is due to roll down the starter’s ramp at 2.47pm. The 37km course includes the Birkelundsbakken climb and that should suit O’Loughlin.

As well as U23 rider O'Loughlin, Irish cycling has riders in action in the TTs and road races through to next Sunday.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Eileen Burns rides the elite women’s 21.1km TT. And that same route will also play host to the junior men’s TT, also on Tuesday.

Ireland is represented by Xeno Young, who has won medals in the pursuit at the European and World track championships already this year.

And with him in that junior TT is Ben Walsh; the winner of the Junior Tour of Ireland this year and also the national junior TT champion.

Nicholas Roche will complete the TT part of Worlds week for Ireland on Wednesday. He rides the elite men’s TT over 31km.

It concludes with a hill top finish and the final 3.4km averages 9.1 per cent. And because there is a climb on the course, TT specialist Ryan Mullen is not riding this time around.

We'll add the other riders' TT start times below when we get them.
