CUBE were just one of the many major brands exhibiting at last year's show; with the 2014 event now set for the city of Dublin right beside the finish of stage 3 of the Giro d'Italia in May.
Having been staged at Dublin's RDS arena and City West Hotel in the west of the city in its first couple of years, the Irish Cycling Show expo is teaming up with the Giro d'Italia start in Ireland next major.
The show will now be held on Merrion Sq in the south inner city, at the location of the finish for stage 3 of the Giro on Sunday May 11th. The exhibition will be open air this time around and will also be free to visitors.
It will open to welcome visitors Saturday, May 10th, while the Giro stage 2 starts and finishes in Belfast, taking the riders up the Antrim coast during the stage.
The conclusion to the race's start here will be stage 3 from Armagh to Dublin city centre, with the stage to finish on Merrion Sq.
And the Irish Cycling Show will be in the adjacent park on the square, with exhibitors to be facilitated in marquees and other structures to ensure a comfortable experience regardless of the weather.
The Donegal based businessman Hugh Bonner whose media and exhibition company Mara Media owns the Irish Cycling Show said he believes the decision to team up with the Giro's Irish start will add to three day of racing here and also provide a huge boost for his exhibition.
Bonner said with the finishing straight of stage 3 set to run along the west side of Merrion Square, beside Government Buildings, his show would be in the park in the centre of the square and also to the east.
"We'll have over a 1,000 square metres of exhibitors’ space in the park and because it's going to be a festival weekend we're really expecting huge foot fall," he said.
"There's going to be a family cycle from Howth village into the finish area on the Saturday and all the other activities in the finish area on the Saturday so the Dublin end of the Giro is very much shaping up to be a weekend of action, not just the Sunday when the race hits town."
Bonner said he had been working on the idea for some time and was delighted to be back in the city centre in such a high profile location having been in City West last year.
"We're continuing to work away on it and putting all the plans in place and even thought it's still a good while away it's shaping up really nicely. The exhibitors will obviously pay for their stands but there's no cover charge into the show, and that goes for that section of it that will be inside the square."
Sounds good to us.
