Irish cycling clubs can now apply for grants under a new round of sports funding totaling €40 million and which is open to clubs across all sports.

Applications for funding under the Government's 2020 Sports Capital Programme have just opened and will remain open until 5pm on Friday, February 12th.

Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media Catherine Martin TD (Greens) encouraged clubs to get working on their applications now in plenty of time to finalise and submit them before the deadline.

"I am delighted that this funding is being made available," he said of the fund now being opened for applications.

"The Sports Capital and Equipment Programme plays a key role in providing the required sport and recreation facilities to enable as many people participate in sport as possible. I would urge all organisations with a suitable project to consider making an application."
