Cyclists Vs motorists on Irish roads? Not for this club chaingang

These boys don't know anything about the so-called 'Them Vs Us battle' on Irish roads. When these Irish cycling club riders were called into action they weren't found wanting.

They say we’re in an era of motorists Vs cyclists. But nobody told the lads from Blackwater Cycling Club.

On Thursday evening they were on a ride in north Cork when they stopped for, erm, a natural break.

With bikes up against a wall and nature taking its course, the lads pondered the car stopped near the middle of the road.

They had just happened across it and were forced  to go around it as it was unexpectedly in their path.

But unwilling to leave a driver in distress, they went over and checked out what the problem was.

She was delighted they had as the car was broken down on a busy crossroads intersecting the Mallow to Killarney main road.

Two of the members of the club, based in Killavullen in Co Cork, who were on the ride aren’t in the photo.

One of the lads was having a longer natural break than his colleagues. And the other rider was taking a photo (of the car being pushed rather than his club mate having a pee – Ed).

The riders, left to right, are: Paul Byrne, Finbarr Harold, JP Lombard, Padraig Murphy, Bill O Brien, Declan Harold, John Walsh and Barry Cunningham.

Gwan the lads!
