A club cyclist has been hospitalised for injuries sustained in a crash with a driver, with police investigators now appealing for information that would help them track a motorist who may be able to aid the investigation into the colission.
The rider is a member of North Down Cycling Club and was injured in the crash at the Gransha Road South area of Bangor in Co Down.
After being treated at the scene by paramedics from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), the cyclist was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital by ambulance. The injured cyclist remains in hospital five days after the crash.
In a statement, PSNI Inspector McClintock said: “Shortly before 9:20am, it was reported that a cyclist and a blue coloured Saab car were involved in the incident. "The cyclist, a woman in her 40s, was taken to hospital for her injuries.
“Enquiries are continuing and as part of our ongoing investigation, we would like to speak to the driver of a white coloured hatchback car who we believe may be able to assist with our enquiries.
“If anyone has any information or may have dashcam footage available, please contact police on 101 quoting reference number 328 07/10/24.”
An ambulance spokesperson said: "NIAS dispatched an Emergency Ambulance Crew and Rapid Response Paramedic to the incident.
"The Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board was also tasked to attend. Following initial assessment and treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital by ambulance."
