Irish club cyclist dies after weekend crash while riding

Gardai have been informed and an inquest will determine the exact circumstances of the fatal crash.

An Irish cyclist has died after crashing while out riding at the weekend, it has emerged.

The collision occurred on Saturday on privately owned lands in Co Tipperary at around 3pm.

The deceased man has been named as Warren Smith, a member of Ballyhoura Cycling club.

He was descending a trail at Ballingarry, Co Tipperary, when he crashed and suffered fatal injuries.

Warren – a 50-year-old father of one – was very sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The emergency services were called and gardai alerted.

Warren’s remains were taken from the scene for post mortem at University Hospital Limerick.

The results of post mortems are not made public until the inquest, when the exact circumstances of what appears to be a tragic accident become known.

And while gardai have been informed, Warren’s passing is being treated as accidental.

Gardai in Borrisokane are investigating the accident for the inquest.
