Ireland's Tour de France hero Sam Bennett set for Late Late Show

Late Late Show guests this week will include Ireland's Tour de France hero Sam Bennett, who will be interviewed on tonight's show.

Bennett, who returned home to Monaco after the Tour and is unclear when he will return to Ireland, will be interviewed on the show via video link from the principality.

He has won hearts and minds in Ireland for his Tour performances and emotional interviews.

Despite his continued success over much of the past decade, with the stature of his wins getting bigger each season, the Tour represented the first time he truly broke trough for deserved national media exposure.

That will continue this evening when he will appear on screen - mask-free - on what is Ireland's biggest and longest running show on the national broadcaster RTÉ.

Carrick-on-Suir man Bennett (29) will form part of an eclectic line-up that also features Jedward and US director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr Anthony Fauci.

Also appearing will be former President of Ireland Mary McAleese and Ireland's boxing world champion Kellie Harrington, among others.
