Irish riders Patrick Casey and Sam Coleman move up from the junior to U23 ranks next year and have secured place with development team that is part of the Israel Premier Tech World Tour outfit.
The Irish teenagers will compete in the colours of Israel-Premier Tech Academy in 2025, which will guarantee them plenty of U23 and UCI ranked racing in Europe through the season.
The team has praised both riders for how they have handled themselves in the junior peloton in Ireland and Continental Europe over the last two years. They will be part of a 20-man roster this year and are among six new riders being brought into the team.
The six new signings for 2025 are Israel road champion Roei Edinger (18), Irish road champion Casey (18), top British TT rider Finlay Tarling (18), Belgian Jens Verbrugghe (20), Coleman (18, Ireland), and British rider Euan Woodliffe (20).
Academy manager, Tim Elverson, said Casey and Coleman had proved themselves as two capable riders “who like a tough day out”.
“Patrick is a really intelligent rider, he’s good at sniffing opportunities out," he added. "Sam can climb well – he’s really strong. We’ll work with them alongside the Irish Federation, which will strengthen their camaraderie.
“I’m really pleased we’ve been able to attract in-demand riders. I think most of the reasoning behind that is the opportunity for progression: riders want to win bike races, and they want to know they can step up to a good professional team, and I think we’ve proven that, with Joe (Blackmore) being the best example in 2024.
“They’ve chosen to come to us as they decided that we were the best option for them and their future. It’s really nice to get the team into this position going into 2025.”
