Caoimhe O'Brien has secured a new contract for 2025 with US Continental team Cynisca Cycling, which Irish elite road race champion Fiona Mangan rode for this year.
O'Brien has been competing for UK-based Continental team DAS-Hutchinson-Brother-UK but her new team should afford her more international racing experience next year.
She was selected for the national team for the UCI World Championships in Zurich last month, after several wins on the kermesse circuit in Belgium. O'Brien also won the U23 road race title at the National Road Championships this year as well as a stage in Rás na mBan, on her way to 5th overall.
"We’re excited to announce that Caoimhe O’Brien, the current Irish U23 National Road Champion, is joining Cynisca for the 2025 season," the team said in a statement.
"Caoimhe is a rising star in women’s cycling, turning heads with her standout performances in UCI World Tour races this season. Her consistent progression against world-class competition has made her one of Ireland’s most exciting cycling prospects."
O'Brien said she was delighted with her new contract and new team.
“I’m really excited to be signing for Cynisca for the 2025 season. I am looking forward to a year of high-level racing and continuing to develop and progress as a bike racer," she said.
