Ireland's Nicolas Roche set to ride Giro d’Italia for fifth time in his career

Nicolas Roche has been named in the Giro d'Italia Team DSM line-up. The squad will be targeting the overall having placed two riders on the final podium last year

Nicolas Roche has been named in the Team DSM line-up for the Giro d’Italia. The Irish rider has been training in Tenerife of late and is set to ride the Tour of the Alps next week as tune up for the Giro.

He is named in a very strong team selection for the
Italian Grand Tour, which also includes last year’s Giro runner-up and mountain
stage winner Jai Hindley as well as the team’s marquee signing of the winter,
Romain Bardet.

There are three German riders in the line-up - Nikias Arndt, Nico Denz and Max Kanter – as well as American Chris Hamilton and Australian rider Michael Storer.

Team DSM’s Giro d’Italia DS Matt Winston said having
finished with two riders on the podium last year, the team was once again targeting
the general classification.

“We’ve got a solid, clear plan formulated together with our experts and performance team that looks to different strategies and tactics that we can apply to really utilise our strengths and bring home that top result,” he said.
