Ben Healy, Ireland's newest World Tour professional rider, has been unveiled as an EF Education-EasyPost member for the coming 2022 season.
The Irishman features in the publicity shots for the US-based team's 2022 kit launch. It has stuck with its trademark pink for this year, but blended with with blue. The kit is produced again by Rapha.
"The new design, executed through creative coding and image/pattern manipulation, is a modern interpretation of the Argyle pattern that has been a staple part of EF’s visual language for years," the team said.
Healy, still aged just 21 years, has impressed in recent seasons while riding with the Trinity Racing team owned by Irish agent Andrew McQuaid and his ability has been spotted by EF Education-EasyPost boss Jonathan Vaughters.
In 2019, Healy's first year as an U23, he became the youngest ever winner of a stage of Tour de l’Avenir. In 2020 he took a stage victory in Ronde de l’Isard and also won the elite and U23 road race titles in Ireland as well as the U23 TT title.
Last year he claimed a stage win, on the final day, of the Baby Giro by attacking the breakaway. He also ended that race 12th overall despite losing time on the opening day when the heat undermined his performance.
He goes into the 2022 season with much to learn but with the ability to take his chances when they come, even if his new team mates are the likes of Rigoberto Urán, Alberto Bettiol, Stefan Bissegger, Hugh Carthy, Esteban Chaves, Magnus Cort Nielsen, Mark Padun and Neilson Powless, among others.
