Having impressed with EvoPro Racing in recent months and been selected for the Europeans and the Worlds, Dillon Corkery is set to return to France next season.

The 22-year-old is the latest rider to be recruited by CC Étupes for the 2022 campaign and the team believes it can help with crucial parts of his development.

Corkery, the former Irish elite criterium champion, rode for Team Élite Restauration-Louault 89 in France for most of the last two seasons. He then got the chance to ride for Irish Continental team EvoPro Racing - founded by Morgan Fox and PJ Nolan - and raced very strongly in UCI-ranked races.

Corkery was selected in the last weeks of the season to represent Ireland in the U23 road race at the Worlds and Europeans; surviving in the front group in the Euros until hit by severe cramps.

After that race he told stickybottle he had been impacted by cramping several times through the season, though he had done everything to try and address the problem. And now his new team believes it can work with him to resolve that issue.

Melvin Rullière, the team's sports directeur, told DirectVelo Corkery had developed significantly as a rider during the last two seasons in France.

"This year, he has shown great things which prove his full potential. You are not at the front of the Tour de l'Avenir without having qualities," he said of Corkery making the small select group on a brutal stage 4.

"We are currently working to resolve his cramping problem. I have great confidence in him and I want to fight so that we can show his true level."

Rullière added Corkery had the ability to win repeatedly in France and as well as being a very strong rider he was also "a good kid”.

We'll catch up with Corkery for a chat shortly.
