Corey – far right – picks up third against the best of British
Corey Waller has only been racing BMX for 11 months now; his first outing was at the Ratoath BMX - http://www.ratoathbmx.com/ - inaugural race back in November 2011.
And what an 11 months he’s had. At the World BMX Championships in Birmingham during May he made it all the way to the top 24.
After dipping his toe in the water at the Braintree UK National he went back to the Derby UK National and made it on to the podium in 3rd place. And to top his year off he has just wrapped up the Irish Number One Plate in his category.
Now that’s an impressive sporting CV for a 6-year-old. He’s arguably the best pound for pound BMX rider in the country at the moment.

The guys in Kilkenny’s BikeStore - http://www.bikestore.ie/ - picked up on Corey’s ability early on signing him up to their race team for the 2012 season. They got him on the right size bike among other things which set him on the way to success. It wasn’t going to be long before others in the BMX world started to take notice.
For 2013 Corey has been pick up by the UK-based Source Route 55 team. A team run by our very own elite rider Kelvin Batey.
Kelvin knows talent when he sees it. The team is currently stuffed with bundles of it. So much so that they were just pipped for first place in the 2012 UK National Team rankings, beating teams such as EA Pure Racing, Crupi, Haro, Redline and Identiti to name but a few.

Corey has been one of the revelations of the growing Irish BMX scene this year

Corey will be riding most of the 2013 UK National Series and is bound to pick up more podium finishes there, hopefully helping his Source Route 55 team to the number one spot. He also has the job of defending his Irish number one plate.
We wish Corey and his new team all the best in BMX for 2013. It’s not only good for Corey and Source Route 55 but this news can only raise the profile for Irish BMX.

Well done guys and the very best of luck in the competition!
