
Dublin City Council is holding a film screening event, with a cycling panel discussion to follow, to mark International Women's Day in the city tomorrow, Thursday, March 6th.
The panel will be chaired by Siobhán McNamara, vice-chair of Dublin Cycling Campaign and will include Catríona Nally from Ballymun Youth Action Project and Recovery Road Cycling Club, as well as Josephine Healion, Paralympic rider and World Championship medal winner.
"We are screening Saudi Arabian film, Wadjda, about a 10-year-old girl who wants to buy a bike to race her friend Abdullah. However, Wadjda's mother refuses, fearing repercussions from Saudi society," Dublin City Council said of the film before the panel discussion.
The event is taking place at the Generator Dublin, Smithfield, in Dublin's north inner city, with doors opening at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
