The new 'Cycleways Inter-Varsity League' has been forced to reorganise its schedule of racing over the coming weeks because of an insurance problem with the Republic's new Corkagh Park purpose-built cycling track in west Dublin.
The first race at the venue had been planned for this weekend. However, the organisers of the new third-level league have told stickybottle those plans have had to be abandoned.
Ian Richardson of UCD Cycling Club said the problem had forced him into a reshuffle of the racing planned for the six-week league.
"Unfortunately we've had a change to the order of events due to problems with approval from the South Dublin County Council not having the insurance cleared for the Corkagh Park track yet."
This Saturday's road race at the recently completed cycle track in Clondalkin has been scrapped and replaced with the Hill Climb TT on Howth Head in north Dublin that was initially to be held the following week.

Richardson and Trinity College CC – which is helping UCD organise the new league – have decided to reschedule the race in Corkagh Park to February 18th in the hope the insurance cover will be in place by then and the track cleared for racing.
Meanwhile, in the first race of the six-week league Andrew Stanley of TCD took victory with a time of 26:25 in the 10mile TT at the Boot Inn near Dublin Airport last Saturday.

The race was run off in very breezy conditions and saw Eoin Morton (UCD) take second in 26:46, with David O'Brien (DIT) third in a time of 28:15.

Feb 4th: 10 mile Time Trial: Boot Inn
Feb 11th: Track introduction: Sundrive Track
Feb 18th: Road Race: Corkagh Park
Feb 25th: Road Race: Corkagh Park
All races will be €2 each to enter. However, a full competition licence or one day licence will be needed for the road races and track day.
