Jumbo Visma has definitely won first prize for the most impressive service course, as this video below reveals. The sheer scale of the new team base is impressive before we even consider the facilities inside.
The service course and team base is situated in ’s-Hertogenbosch, the capital of North Brabant, a province in the south of the Netherlands, the home country of the dual cycling and ski team.
It was designed by Mulderblauw and built by Somerset Capital Partners, with construction having started just over a year ago. As the video below reveals, the facility is very much complete and up and running now. It is proof, if it were needed, that Jumbo Visma's sponsors are committed to the team for the long-term.
"The building consists of an office part with an adjacent warehouse," designers Mulderblauw said of the new team base.
"Not only does this warehouse function as storage space, it’s also the workshop where technicians and mechanics work their magic to create and adjust the best gear possible. In addition, there is sufficient space in the warehouse to park tour buses and trucks.
"The workplace of the mechanics is also visible from the offices and meeting rooms. This creates a strong connection with the craftsmanship, no matter where you are. The offices are located on the first floor, accessible through large stairs."
The entrance to the building is a large reception area, which can facilitate large groups of visitors. There are also displays in that part of the building relating to the cycling team's history as well as a café and games area.
The offices, boardrooms and other meeting areas feature display cases with some of the team's bikes and are themed, include one with a heavy Tour de France influence and another themed around the winter and summer Olympics.
