Ronan McLaughlin's incredible Everesting time has been confirmed by Hells 500, the Australian group that created the Everesting concept and is the official keeper of the record list.

Yesterday on Mamore Gap in his native Donegal McLaughlin set a time of 8hrs 9mins; the fastest Irish time by over two hours and the fifth fastest time of all-time.

However, EF Pro Cycling WorldTour pro Lachlan Morton thought he had broken the record last month only to be told he hadn't adhered to the strict regulations for the event.

That meant his first attempt didn't count and so he had to go and do it all again. Morton's experience showed that McLaughlin could not be sure of his time until it was ratified.

Happily for McLaughlin, Hells 500 have already ratified his record, which you can see here,. Irish rider McLaughlin received confirmation of the ratification on Monday morning.

International mountain biker Keegan Swanson held the record before Morton, with 7hrs 40mins. In 4th place in the current all-time Everesting list is former pro rider Phil Gaimon with 7hrs 52mins.

And now McLaughlin, who races with Dan Morrissey-MIG-Pactimo in Ireland, is next; the new Irish record holder and 5th in the all-time list.
