Cycling Ireland is to press ahead with its plans to hold a training and information day tomorrow, Sunday, about the junior men’s high performance programme this year.
A junior women’s day was due to go ahead today, Saturday,
but it was cancelled due to the storm warnings caused by Storm Jorge.
Cycling Ireland had said it would issue a statement on
Saturday morning about the men’s day on Sunday.
It has now done so, and it has confirmed the day will go
ahead as planned.
“As there are no weather warnings in place for tomorrow –
Sunday, March 1st - the Cycling Ireland junior men’s training and information
day will go ahead in Carrick-on-Suir as planned,” it said in a brief statement.
While very strong wind and heavy rain were forecast for
Ireland due to Storm Jorge this weekend, the forecasts varied from place to
place.
Because of that, Cycling Ireland committed to making an announcement
on Friday morning about the women’s day on Saturday and another on Saturday
morning about the men’s day on Sunday.
Unfortunately the storm warnings prevented the women’s
day going ahead. But there are no such problems for the men’s day. It will get
underway from 11am tomorrow in Carrick-on-Suir.
The day will start with an endurance road ride, followed
by an information session on the 2020 junior high performance programme.
