Ice to make cycling treacherous as temps plummet below zero

It is set to be very cold on Sunday morning with icy conditions forecast throughout Ireland

Some Irish cycling clubs have cancelled their usual rides for tomorrow, Sunday, as plummeting temperatures are set to bring icy conditions across the country.

Met Eireann has said it will drop as low as -4°C,
with conditions already feeling very cold today.

A status yellow weather warning has been issued, warning
of the icy conditions and low temperatures, for everywhere across the Republic
except Donegal.

From a cycling perspective, the bad news is that
temperatures will be at their coldest around dawn and it will remain below zero
until midday.

That means treacherous roads at exactly the time many clubs and other groups normally set out for their Sunday morning rides.
