An online fundraiser has been launched to help a woman who was seriously injured in an unusual crash in Dublin which involved her and another cyclist. While the male cyclist did not suffer life-threatening injury, the woman is now in an induced coma.

She was taken from the scene to hospital where she has remained being treated for head injuries since the incident on Monday morning. And at the time of writing over €11,000 had been raised for her as donations had poured in from more than 650 people.

Gabriella Saab was injured on Botanic Road, Glasnevin, north Dublin, at 10am on Monday. She was initially taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital but has since been transferred to Beaumont, also in north Dublin, and which specialises in the treatment of head injuries.

Her friend, Camila Longo, has launched the fundraising campaign - which can be accessed by following this link - and it is now well on track to reach the goal of €15,000. She said Ms Saab required surgery for head injury.

"She is currently hospitalised and in stable condition, but in an induced coma to aid in her 100 per cent recovery," Ms Longo added in the fundraiser campaign, which is intended to help with medical and related bills and also to assist members of the Saab family to travel from Brazil to Ireland.
