Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe) took a brilliant win on stage 10 of the Giro d'Italia today when he was the only man left standing from the breakaway.

The three-time world champion survived out front despite several teams chasing down his breakaway at different times during the stage.

Up front he also faced repeated attacks, including from Ineos Grenadiers, Movistar and Cofidis, all of whom had two men in the breakaway.

However, Sagan proved strongest on a series of late climbs and on the final ascent he rode clear to take the win, his first since last year's Tour de France.
