It comes courtesy of The Killarney Cycling Festival in the Kingdom of Kerry on Saturday, August 27th.

On offer at the festival are two things: the opportunity to take in a fantastic bike ride with your buddies around the Ring of Kerry, with some of the famous hospitality waiting from you when you’re done.

The riders get ready for the off from The Gleneagle Hotel Killarney last year for what was a terrific event.

 

Now in its third year, there are two routes on offer around the Ring of Kerry, with group rates and buddy rates when you enter more than one person for:

  • Wrong Way Round 160km: Tackle Molls Gap before heading for the scenic South West via Sneem. From there the route passes Waterville, Cahersiveen, Glenbeigh and Killorglin.
  • The Hard Way Round 180km: Same as above except take a right for Ballaghbeama through the heart of Kerry to Ballaghoisin, a detour around the stunning Skellig Ring before rejoining the main troop on the road to Cahersiveen.

When you cross the finish line at the festival headquarters – The Gleneagle Hotel Killarney - a barbecue and live entertainment will be ready and waiting and the night stage begins!

There will be food stops dotted along the 160km & 180km routes and official festival road captains to accompany and guide you along the way.

Entries are now open and flooding in and you can sign up by following this link.

The proceeds from all of the entry fees will be used to cover the expenses associated with the event and surplus funds will go to the Donal Walsh LiveLife Foundation.

It was established in memory of Kerry teenager Donal who inspired the nation by the manner of his facing terminal cancer.

The Killarney Cycling Festival is very much about challenging yourself and having the craic in equal measure.

And the trip down to conquer the Ring of Kerry by bike would make for a great weekend break with the family; down on the Friday evening and home on Sunday.
