Dan Martin had thankfully recovered enough from his broken collar bone at the Giro last month to ride the Cycle4Life event on Saturday and meet plenty of fans like these.
Here's a great highlights video by Black Umbrella Productions of the Cycle4Life charity sportive that took place on Saturday, starting from Dunboyne in Co Meath and featuring star turn and charity ambassador Dan Martin.
The Garmin Sharp climber has not yet been able to return to race action following his broken collar bone on the team time trial stage of the Giro d'Italia in Belfast.
But he is back training again and was thankfully in a position to be in Ireland as planned to take part in the event that has grown so much in recent years thanks mainly to his profile.
The Cycle4Life sportive in aid of Temple St Children’s Hospital was his first public appearance since his horror showing in Belfast one month ago.
Even before this year's event - which featured three rides geared from small kids to the more experienced cyclist - the charity had raised €350,000 for Temple St in Dublin's north inner city.
Martin has been a regular visitor to the facility to witness first hand the work of the equipment the event has bought and also to meet the kids undergoing treatment there.
The team from Black Umbrella Productions also filmed Martin at the hospital last Friday before following him and the sportive the following day.

There was plenty on offer on Saturday, even for very small kids; the shortest of the three routes was the 3km family ride.

The experienced riders had the 105km advanced route to tackle, though the emphasis was on participation and having a bit of fun rather than racing around the course.

As ever, Martin was very much in demand at what is fact becoming one of Ireland's best known sportives.
