Fraser Duncan (Eurocycles) has taken outright victory in the “Spin11 Portaferry Three Day” after finishing safely in the main bunch on the fourth and final stage in Co Down today, Sunday.

The stage was won by Peter Hawkins (IG Sigma Sport) who put in a very strong performance today, taking four of the five ascents on the Mountain Road circuit during a stage over 43 miles.

The Belfast man managed to hold off the field and won on his own from German galloper Christop Schweizer (Team Nutrixxion) with Thomas Martin (Eurocycles) in third.

Duncan made it into the winning breakaways on Friday night’s opening stage and also on the road stage on Saturday morning. That put him into the yellow jersey going into Saturday afternoon’s two mile TT, which he won.

That consistency and his winning test meant he went to the line today with a lead of 1:49 from second placed man on GC Schweizer.

With the stage today completely controlled by Duncan and two really strong team mates in the shape of Thomas Martin and Adam Armstrong, Duncan ran out a pretty comfortable winner.

He also took the points classification from Schweizer and his Eurocycles team took the team prize rounding out a weekend to remember for them.
