Greipel questions drafting in Roglic TT ride as Dan Martin loses out

Andre Greipel (Lotto-Soudal) questioned some of what went on during the 18km flat stage 3 TT in which Primož Roglič (LottoNl-Jumbo) took the yellow jersey from Dan Martin (QuickStep)

It would be very unfair to Primož Roglič (LottoNl-Jumbo) to suggest anything untoward on his part saw him take the yellow jersey from Dan Martin at the Volta ao Algarve.

But that didn’t stop Andre Greipel (Lotto-Soudal) questioning some of what went on during the 18km flat stage 3 TT today.

Roglič was runner-up to QuickStep’s Martin on stage 2 yesterday and today was 3rd in the TT and claimed the yellow jersey from the Irishman.

Greipel Tweeted a photo of Roglič apparently in the slipstream of a motorbike, asking the UCI if the scenario was fair.

He later added to his comments suggesting it was not Roglič to blame and that other riders would do the same if given the opportunity.

In truth Martin would have lost the race lead anyway and by a considerable margin.

Roglič was just 5 seconds off stage winner Jonathan Castroviejo (Movistar) while Martin was a further 1:35 adrift.
