This bag full of goodies for everyone who cycles Dublin City

They're closing down large tracts of Dublin City for the Great Dublin Bike Ride on Sunday, September 23rd. All cyclists also receive this goodie bag and a sweet finishers' medal.

The Great Dublin Bike Ride is a special one; rolling out from the heart of Georgian Dublin for a ride around the best of Dublin city and county.

And with the route hugging the coast, it’s an ideal way to see the city at its best. It takes place on September, Sunday 23rd.

Because large tracts of the city centre are given over to the cyclists on the day; the sportive creates a unique environment for cyclists.

It comes but once a year and is really worth experiencing. You’ll get to cycle the city like on no other day of the year.

Not content with taking over a huge part of Dublin City for our cycling pleasure, the Great Dublin Bike Ride also offers some pretty sweet goodies for all participants.

Everyone who rides gets a goodie bag containing a branded cycling hat and neck buff; the latter handy for the cold mornings that are soon on the way.

There’s also a branded drawstring bag and water bottle for all Great Dublin Bike Ride cyclists.

And when you’ve completed the course, you’ll be presented with one of the nicest medals we’ve seen, below.

There are still eight days left to register so if you’re not already in, you still have time.

However, the event has a strict cap of 7,000 riders and the ‘sold out’ sign will be coming out soon; the organisers on track again this year to fill up their quota.

The entry closes in eight days; next Sunday, September 16th. You can enter and get any other additional information by following this link.

The event is slightly different this year in that a new additional distance is available. You now have 65km and 105km routes to choose from.

It leaves Merrion Sq from 7am on the day, and when you’re done you’ll have ridden the city and county.

Heading from the city centre, north side and on to Clontarf before swinging towards the northern suburbs and out towards Swords.

And then riders will head west out close to Clonee before the run-in back to the finish at Grangegorman DIT.

The 105km route adds distance mainly by going further north than Swords. On the slightly longer route you’ll go out to Naul and Garristown; great cycling country in north Co Dublin.

Stickybottle is delighted to be working with Great Dublin Bike Ride in promoting the event this year; precisely because it’s well worth recommending.
