As Jonathan Caicedo (EF Pro Cycling) was riding to victory on Mount Etna on stage 3 of the Giro d'Italia his family back in Ecuador was going nuts watching him take the win.

Caicedo has only been a pro since the start of last year. Before that he rode for Colombian Continental-level teams and only jumped to WorldTour level at the start of last season with EF Pro Cycling.

His win on stage 3 of the Giro on Monday was the first victory the 27-year-old have ever achieved outside his native Ecuador and the excitement back home was clear to see in the video, below, shared by his team.

While it was an awesome win for him, if he had not gone for a big celebration he would have taken the race lead as he ended the stage equal on time with João Almeida, with the Deceuninck-QuickStep from Portugal taking the jersey on stage count-back.

However, Caicedo’s family back home didn't know or care about that and it certainly didn't dampen their excitement, or tears, when watching his victory.
