Two Irish businessmen have tried to soften the blow for the Irish riders left crestfallen by the collapse of the Dynamo Cover cycling team by offering them a free two-week training camp in southern Spain.
Noel O'Mahony who runs ‘Orihuela Costa Cycling Camp’ in Alicante and Aidan Crowley who founded the custom cycling and tri clothing company VeloRevolution have come forward with the generous offer less than 48 hours after the proposed team fell through.

- “The staff and riders have lost everything. I’m devastated”
“We heard what happened the lads with the team and really felt for them,” said Crowley, the reigning national Masters 40 road race champion.
“We don’t even know all the Irish riders but we don’t want to see them completely stranded, with their racing plans up in the air now for 2016.
“It’s just a gesture from us to offer them all a two-week training camp and accommodation out there, with return flights included.”
The camp is based in Los Altos, south of the very popular tourist resort Alicante.
It gets year-round sunshine and is popular with Irish holiday-makers and those looking to get in some quality winter miles.
The An Post Chainreaction team is currently just north of Alicante in Calpe on their annual pre-winter camp while Triathlon Ireland are just south of Alicante in Aguilas.
The riders who have been left devastated by the team folding are urged to contact [email protected] or [email protected] to arrange the camp.
Nice to see some generosity after a very difficult week for the five Irish riders left stranded by the collapse of Team Dynamo Cover; Sean and Mark Downey, Philip Lavery, Ryan Reilly and Mark Dowling.
