
Gardaí in Dublin are investigating a hit and run which left a woman, who was cycling at the time, seriously injured. The driver involved fled the scene and a search is now underway for them.
The incident is the third hit and run in a week with cyclists - two men and a woman - as victims. Thankfully all three cyclists have survived the incidents, which are now being criminally investigated.
Last Sunday night a man was seriously injured in Dublin’s north inner city in a hit and run and another man was injured near Donore, Co Meath, last Sunday afternoon.
The latest of the three incidents occurred on Wednesday
morning in Tallaght, Dublin 24, with gardaí launching an appeal for information
today.
Gardaí said the latest hit and run occurred on the
Cheeverstown Road at the junction with Fortunestown Way at 8.30am on Wednesday.
“It is reported a black VW Passat car collided with the
cyclist and failed to remain at the scene,” a Garda statement said.
“The cyclist, a woman aged in her 20s, was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
"Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking to any witnesses or road users who may have camera footage (dash-cam) and were in the area between 8am-9am.”

Last Sunday afternoon a 29-year-old man was seriously injured out cycling when he was hit by a driver in a car at Staleen, Donore, Co Meath, at about 1.30pm. The victim was hospitalised. The driver of what was believed to be a white Mercedes 'C' Class car did not stop.
Later that night in Dublin, a man out cycling was injured in a hit and run on Sheriff Street Upper in the north inner city just after 9pm. The 22-year-old victim was taken to hospital and was critically injured.
The driver fled the scene and a black Seat car found abandoned a short distance away, on Guild Street, has been linked to the crime.
