The first weekend of being able to train on the bike in much larger areas of the Republic has arrived, but some of Leinster's most popular training roads have been hit by winter weather.
Gardai in Co Wicklow have warned against any road users - whether in vehicles or on bikes - against venturing into the area of Sally Gap.
"The Roundwood-Sally Gap crossroads R759 and Sally Gap cross-Laragh R115 roads are both now closed due to snowfall and forecast very low temperatures which will lead to icing," the Garda said.
They also urged people to "please avoid the area" and to take care on the roads everywhere as weather has turned much colder in recent days.
That will come as bad news to Wicklow cyclists as this week was the first for almost two months that cyclists across the Republic were be able to venture more than 5km from home for training. Under the new Covid-19 rules cyclists can train anywhere in their home county.
All cyclists can also now train in groups of up to 15 riders since Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions were lifted earlier this week and replaced with Level 3 restrictions, which are less stringent.
Check weather conditions and forecasting before setting out on the bike tomorrow, Saturday, whatever part of the country you are in.
