Garda sting catches Dublin teen selling bike hours after it was robbed

The bike that was stolen and offered for sale online hours later. Gardai set up an operation and got the bike back while also arresting a teenager.

 

The Garda has recovered a stolen bike in Dublin valued at over €1,000 after it was spotted for sale online just hours after it was taken.

A juvenile has been arrested in connection with the attempt to sell the stolen bike online.

The operation was established by the Garda in Dundrum station in south Dublin with the assistance of the force’s anti burglary unit.

“This bike valued at €1,000 was placed for sale online which had been stolen 4 hours earlier,” the Garda said in a brief statement.

“An operation was set up by Gardaí in Dundrum with the assistance of the Burglar Resource Unit. The bike was recovered and a juvenile arrested.”

The Garda supplied a photo of the bike but because a person has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the sale of the bike no further information has been provided about the crime.

However, it’s good to see all involved were quick into action and got to the bike before it was sold.

The case also underlines the value for anyone who has had a bike stolen in keeping an eye on the well known trading sites.
